Bangladesh’s Remittance Inflow Surpasses $2 Billion in January, Marking Steady Growth1 min read

Bangladesh’s remittance inflow has once again crossed the $2 billion mark, with expatriates sending a total of $2.19 billion in January 2025, reflecting a steady momentum in foreign earnings reportedly.

According to the central bank, this represents a 3.40% increase compared to the same month last year, when remittances stood at $2.11 billion. The sustained growth underscores the resilience of Bangladesh’s migrant workforce in bolstering the nation’s economy.

A closer look at the figures reveals that state-owned and specialized banks collectively received $627 million, while private banks handled a significantly larger share of $1.55 billion in remittance inflows.

Notably, this marks the sixth consecutive month that Bangladesh has received over $2 billion in remittances, reinforcing the critical role of expatriate earnings in the country’s economic stability.
