The bottles are created from recycled, reprocessed, and reused plastic, making them more environmentally beneficial because they emit over 30% fewer greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than virgin fossil-fuel-based PET.

“We’re using the power of our brands to inspire people to make more positive choices for themselves and the planet and are proud to launch the 100% recycled bottles in Kuwait with our Diet Pepsi product offering. The Government of Kuwait has ambitious plans to build eco-cities in the coming years, and a greener, cleaner environment is intrinsically linked with the well-being of people. More sustainable packaging, and in parallel – the development of an effective waste management system, will play a significant role in driving this forward.”

 – Aamer Sheikh, CEO, PepsiCo Middle East.

The new packaging will be offered in 2.25L Diet Pepsi bottles, providing consumers with a delicious drink in more eco-friendly packaging. The debut comes at a significant moment in Kuwait, as the government strives to divert 80% of garbage from landfills by 2035.

Efforts are underway in Kuwait involving policymakers, local bottlers, and waste management stakeholders to enhance recycling infrastructure and raise consumer knowledge about recycling in order to reduce trash ending up in landfills.

PepsiCo has declared a target to reach net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2040 and to reduce virgin plastic per serving by 50% across its global food and beverage portfolio by 2030 as part of its pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) strategy, which will be launched by 2030.
